ALABAMA NMLS CE REQUIREMENTS — 8 HOURS
Alabama mortgage loan originators must complete 8 hours of NMLS-approved continuing education annually. Alabama has no state-specific CE requirement — all 8 hours are standard federal content.

Alabama MLOs who completed pre-licensure education and received initial license approval in 2026 are not required to complete CE this year.
The deadline to complete Alabama NMLS continuing education is December 31. Course completions can take up to 7 days to be reported to NMLS — complete your Alabama CE by December 5 to avoid missing the renewal window.
ALABAMA NMLS PRE-LICENSURE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS — 20 HOURS
New Alabama mortgage loan originators must complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved pre-licensure education before obtaining a license. Alabama has no state-specific PE requirement — all 20 hours are standard federal content.

After completing PE, candidates must pass the SAFE MLO Test before applying for a license in NMLS. The application process includes a criminal background check, credit check, and employment sponsorship from a licensed mortgage company. Once all requirements are satisfied, the state regulator reviews and approves the application through NMLS.
