ALASKA NMLS CE REQUIREMENTS — 8 HOURS

Alaska mortgage loan originators must complete 8 hours of NMLS-approved continuing education annually. Alaska has no state-specific CE requirement — all 8 hours are standard federal content.

  • 3 hours of federal law

  • 2 hours of ethics, including fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending

  • 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending

  • 1 hour of electives

Alaska MLOs who completed pre-licensure education and received initial license approval in 2026 are not required to complete CE this year.

The deadline to complete Alaska NMLS continuing education is December 31. Course completions can take up to 7 days to be reported to NMLS — complete your Alaska CE by December 5 to avoid missing the renewal window.

ALASKA NMLS PRE-LICENSURE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS — 20 HOURS

New Alaska mortgage loan originators must complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved pre-licensure education before obtaining a license. Alaska has no state-specific PE requirement — all 20 hours are standard federal content.

  • 3 hours of federal law

  • 3 hours of ethics, including fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending

  • 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending

  • 12 hours of electives

Note: Alaska has enacted PE expiration. This means your pre-licensure education credits may expire under certain conditions. Review the NMLS State Licensing Checklist for details before applying.

After completing PE, candidates must pass the SAFE MLO Test before applying for a license in NMLS. The application process includes a criminal background check, credit check, and employment sponsorship from a licensed mortgage company. Once all requirements are satisfied, the state regulator reviews and approves the application through NMLS.
