NMLS CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES YOU NEED FOR WEST VIRGINIA
West Virginia mortgage loan originators, licensed under the West Virginia Division of Financial Institutions, carry one of the heavier state loads in the country: 2 hours of West Virginia-specific CE on top of the federal course.
- 8-Hour Federal CE Course (covers 3 hours federal law, 2 hours ethics, 2 hours non-traditional lending)
- 2-Hour West Virginia State-Specific Course
All hours must be completed by December 31 each year. We recommend finishing by December 5 to ensure your completion is reported to NMLS before the renewal deadline.

NMLS PRE-LICENSING EDUCATION COURSES YOU NEED FOR WEST VIRGINIA
New West Virginia MLOs must complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved pre-licensure education before obtaining a license:
- 3 hours of federal law
- 3 hours of ethics, including fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending
- 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending
- 4 hours of West Virginia-specific law
- 8 hours of electives
